FAQ
How does Intertitle pick films for me?
It reads your Letterboxd history and a handful of in-app ratings, converts your taste into a high-dimensional embedding and uses proximity to it as the primary signal, blended with quality and diversity — not a popularity chart. The result is a short lineup ranked to you, each film with a plain-language reason for why it fits and, once there is enough signal, a read of how close it sits to your taste.
Do I need a Letterboxd account?
No. If you have years of Letterboxd history, it's the fastest start: create an account, import your export ZIP or CSV and Intertitle has taste signal from the first import, and connecting your handle keeps new diary entries syncing. No Letterboxd? Rate a handful of films you know on a quick deck — one card at a time, skipping any you haven't seen — then log and rate films as you watch. You can even start as a guest; your ratings come with you when you create an account.
Is it free?
Yes. Intertitle is free to download and use — Tonight, Discover, Reely (within a daily message cap), Friends, Wrapped and the diary. A Pro tier is planned but not yet purchasable.
How is this different from Letterboxd?
Letterboxd is where you log, review and keep lists. Intertitle answers what to watch next. It also gives you taste stats of its own, free: a taste archetype, how deep your taste runs, your taste shape by genre and decade, and the directors you keep returning to. Think of it as a companion, not a replacement.
What is Reely?
Reely is your film companion. Ask it what to watch tonight, or talk a film over after you log it — it knows your history, adapts to what you've actually seen, and is spoiler-aware: Going in, As you go, or Finished. It can log a film for you mid-conversation, and you can see everything it remembers about your taste and delete any of it.
Can I see what my friends are watching?
Yes. Follow people by username and the Friends tab shows what they log, love and set as their Top Four; you can reply to a logged watch. Claim a username and you get a public taste page at app.intertitle.app/u/your-name with your Top Four, loved films, ratings histogram, and recent logs, with the notes you wrote in the app. You can make it private in Settings.
Is there a Letterboxd Wrapped in Intertitle?
Yes — an all-time taste recap available any time of year, not just December. It unlocks at 20 logged films (imports count) and shows one of 16 taste archetypes, how deep your taste runs (when your history can support it), your top director, your taste shape by genre and decade, and a poster wall from your whole history. You can share it as a story card or save it to Photos; sharing also gives you a public link.
Is there a web version, or iOS only?
Intertitle is an iPhone app for now, in English and Spanish: Tonight, Discover, Friends, Wrapped, Reely and the diary all live there. On the web you can try a pick from the films you love on intertitle.app, and anyone can open a public taste page or Wrapped card someone shares.
